Delta Centennial

What a miracle to watch language develop. Delta has kept up to Kiwanja in having her first 100 words before 18 months. However, she goes the extra step of adding a signed action of her own invention to each word she says, for example fish-eat, airplane-go, tea-hot, dog-pat. Or she'll see something in a book, say the word, then point to the direction where she last saw that thing (outside, in the kitchen, etc). And if she doesn't know how to say a word, she will go to get a book that has a picture of it to show us. She even put 3 words together the other day: Mama-up-no.

Other amazing things - she has learned to forage! She now knows the path from our house to the playground to the supermarket, and wants to go there every day! She also LOVES going places in the car now, with her whole routine of climbing in the seat, getting her bears, and listening to Hawaiian music (#12 on the CD). Life is getting interesting, with four gifted people all mixed up together in one house. :)
